Territorial defense battalions (Ukraine)
Territorial defense battalions ((ウクライナ語:Батальйо́ни територіа́льної оборо́ни)) are volunteer military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the command of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence. The battalions established themselves in mid-2014, during the early stages of the War in Donbass, to combat the stealth invasion by Russian Armed Forces and the forces of the Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic, and the United Armed Forces of Novorossiya. In March 2014 acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov issued an order to create seven territorial defense battalions.
